I believe I started playing guitar because of this song. Neil Young can make more out of 3 basic chords than any other out there. You;ve slowed it down and helped (somewhat) to make it clear - I'll need years, Thanks also, for the added angle.

great lesson but........... that's not travis picking; it's hybrid picking. travis picking is when you are playing simultaneously the bass (with thumb) and the melody+harmony (with fingers), so that you are actually playing two distinct parts at the same time. your usage of your signature finger is part of the rhythm of the song, which means what you are doing is technically hybrid picking. check wikipedia under travis picking if you doubt me. much love, the captain
